Over Your Mileage? Have Excessive Wear and Tear?
Why You Don’t Need to Stay with the Same Leasing Company

If you think a dealership will forgive excessive wear and tear on your leased vehicle as a quid pro quo for leasing with the same company – think again. According to MotorBreeze President Alan Gonzalez, if you are beyond your allocated miles or have dents, scratches, bald tires – or any kind of excessive wear — you will pay for it.

“Ninety-nine percent of the timethe manufacturers don’t forgive excess miles or wear and tear. And the dealership will pass along the cost to the customer,” Gonzalez said

Don’t Get Fooled Again!
How Dealerships Almost Always Make You Pay for Excessive Wear and Tear

Most people believe if they lease with the same dealership – using the same leasing company – the sins of excessive wear and tear or mileage overages will be forgiven. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Because dealers want to retain your business, some employ sneaky tactics to keep you under their thumbs. Following are three ways the dealership may lead you to believe you won’t have to pay for excessive wear & tear and mileage overage.

  1. The dealership will calculate the cost of the damages and mileage overages and incorporate it into your next lease. Unless you read the lease contract carefully you might not be aware of the hidden costs.

  2. Some unscrupulous dealers might not inform you of the new charges. In this case, you could receive an unwelcome surprise 30 days later – a bill for charges you thought you’d been spared.

  3. The dealer might try to convince you that another leasing company will ding you for the very charges you think the dealer is forgiving.

“Sometimes, switching leasing companies or manufacturers may be beneficial to a customer if he/she is over mileage and has excessive wear and tear,” Gonzalez said.

“It’s all about transparency. If your dealer doesn’t guide you every step of the way with complete honesty, you’re likely to fall victim to what amounts to a con job,” Gonzalez said.

“That is why our mantra – in fact, our code of ethics – is to conduct business with complete transparency,” he said. “MotorBreeze will walk you through the proper way to do this, and if you want to go to a different brandwe’ll help you do that.

We’re going to get you the BEST price every single time. And there’s full transparency.

We’ll make it nice and easy – it’s a breeze.”
